Re-Birthday: Anniversary of a bone marrow/stem cell transplant. A day to remember and celebrate 2nd chance of life.
My cousin, Mary Stewart Witherspoon was diagnosed with cancer, AML , at the age of 4. She underwent rounds of chemo and full body radiation followed by a stem cell transplant- After relapsing 18 months later ...she underwent more treatments and a 2nd stem cell transplant This Re-birthday ultimately saved her life, and allowed her a 2nd chance to live her life! That day became her Re-birthday! In honor of her 5 year Re-Birthday this year, I wanted to do something to honor her and other kids that have endured cancer and transplants.
We want to help kids and their families remember and celebrate the re-birthday of their life-giving transplants. We believe these are special days that should be honored and celebrated each year!
